Dermatrust is dependent on donations to continue its vital work.

Funds are used to support and enhance research into the causes and treatments of skin diseases and skin cancer.

The charity also supports the dissemination of research findings, the development of new therapies and the education of future researchers. Dermatrust directly funds one Clinical Research Fellow and one research scientist, both registered for PhD’s, and one Post Doctoral Scientist. Research funded by Dermatrust has been presented at national and international meetings and published in highly respected peer reviewed journals. (see research pages).

It also contributes to the psycho- dermatology service within The Department of Dermatology at the Royal Free Hospital. This provides much needed help and support with the psychological aspects of skin diseases.

Funding is currently required for a Clinical Research Fellow for 3 years to examine faulty immune response to melanoma.

The research is examining the faulty immune response to melanoma, which is the most serious and common skin cancer and whose incidence is, unfortunately, rising year on year. The project will benefit those who are diagnosed with melanoma, whether malignant or benign.

We need £83,333 each year to fund this project.

Funds are also needed for capital items such as voice recorders for the psycho- dermatology service; for laboratory equipment and reagents and also to fund the dissemination of research.

Patients now and into the future will benefit from your kind investment.
